Even as we have our eyes fixed on a new year with renewed hope for a return to some sense of normalcy, we know that we still must be vigilant and take precautions to ensure our safety and the safety of those we know and love as we live through the challenge of this dreadful virus. But if we have learned anything over the course of this past year, we have learned what we can do as a community that shares a common goal. For the ladies of Zeta Sigma Omega chapter, we also have learned how to harness the power of our sisterhood to be able to serve our community.
Much needed hope came for us this year with the inauguration of a Black woman — an Alpha Kappa Alpha woman — to the Office of Vice President of the United States. What a moment! In the midst of our celebration, we will continue to stay focused and vigilant on the needs of our city and, in particular, our community.
The ladies of the Zeta Sigma Omega Chapter are not only committed to the safety of our members but also our community, our city, and our state. We will operate virtually for 2021 and look to see what 2022 brings.
Warmest Regards, Gayani P. Ekanayake President
